Renee Jefferson Patterson

My Mission

As your HCC Board Trustee, my mission is rooted in community, equity, and innovation. I am dedicated to strengthening community involvement and partnerships by building meaningful connections between HCC and local organizations, businesses, and leaders—because when we work together, we grow together. I believe in expanding accessibility and opportunity for all, ensuring HCC remains a welcoming, inclusive gateway to education for underserved and historically marginalized communities. Through innovative program development and a focus on workforce growth, I am committed to equipping our students with the tools they need to thrive in today’s economy. Together, we’re shaping a brighter, more empowered future for District II.

Collaboration

I am committed to fostering strong, sustainable relationships between Houston Community College and local stakeholders—including churches, nonprofit organizations, and small businesses. By increasing community engagement, we can expand access to resources and ensure that educational opportunities are responsive to the real needs of the community.

Empowerment

Through expanding accessibility and opportunity I commit to removing barriers to education for historically marginalized and underserved populations. This includes advocating for expanded course offerings in District II, increasing support for first-generation college students, and promoting flexible, affordable pathways that allow more individuals to earn degrees or certifications.

Advancement

As the workforce continues to evolve, I remain committed to expanding HCC’s workforce training programs. By advancing innovative program development and driving workforce growth, we can better serve our community by introducing new certifications, modernizing existing curricula, and aligning our offerings with high-demand industries such as healthcare, technology, skilled trades, and logistics. This ensures our students are not only prepared but competitive in today’s dynamic job market.
